It is amazing how quickly time can pass. Before you know it, you are in the midst of the holidays and then a new year is upon you. Most of us have great aspirations for the new year. Some people want to lose weight. Others want to find companionship. Everyone has something that they wish to find this year. What things do you want to accomplish this year? At the end of this year, will you feel like you have used your time wisely or foolishly? Hopefully, you have used every moment wisely and if not…then you still have an opportunity to do so.
Write down your hopes and dreams for the new year. It is easy to be emotional at the beginning of the year and a few months down the road..you forget what you really wanted to accomplish. When you write your mission and goals down, it gives them substance and a form. You have something to refer back to in times of confusion and chaos. The written word gives your dreams clarity and structure.
It is an exciting time when the clock strikes 12 on January 1. People cry and celebrate the beauty of making it to a new year. Many others died and did not live to ring in the new year. Those of us who get to see a new year should think of it as a new gift to be used and explored. Don’t waste this gift on petty things. In the big picture of life, what will really matter? When you truly think about the big picture, you are better able to decide how to use each moment of each new year.
